They all are! Christmas comes around every year and though I do think of Aunt Shirley other times, lots of other times, at Christmas the memories come on kind of strong. We had such fun going to her house and even more so when Grandma was in town. Actually, I only remember one time when Grandma came up for Christmas and we took Aunt Esther with us too. The two of them were so much fun together.
And now what comes to mind is the time Dad left Alice by the side of the road. I don’t, actually, remember this and I am sure Dad will correct me on the details if need be. Grandma and Aunt Esther were in the car, Dad was driving. Grandma was Harping on Alice. Alice being the older woman that Grandma worked for, helping out, taking her to doctor’s appointments and such.
Dad got tired of the henpecking, stopped the car, got out and opened the door to the back seat.
“OK!!! ALICE get out of the car!” Not a peep about Alice, for rest of the trip. I would give anything to have seen the look on Grandma’s face.
Like my life, this post is unfinished.
